Before and After

The haircut adventure was a success. The mission was to clean-up the raggedy mop the girls have been sporting for a while. I have been hesitant to get their haircut because they do not have much hair. I felt if I cut it off their would be nothing left. The stylists did a great job trimming and layering the girls hair so that Natalie and Amelia's natural curl is now enhanced.

So at age three years and almost four months we have....

I will admit I probably should have had it cut sooner. Their new "hairdos" are so cute. Though who knows what it will look like once they sleep on it! : )

Shhhhh!

Don't tell the girls but they are getting their first haircut today.

Before and after pictures to come soon!

Sad Day...

Today is a sad day in our house. Today I am back to work and no longer on maternity leave. Sam is going to spend some time in the care of his loving grandmothers. The girls will go to their usual daycare. I will miss spending time with him but will worry more about how his caregivers are doing. I hate to admit it but Sam is 100% a Mama's boy. The 12 weeks we have spent together day (and night) has created a bond that our little Samuel does not want to break. It is going to be hectic in the mornings and crazy in the evenings but we will survive. It will take great patience and team work to make it through this time in our lives.

For the time being I will look at the following photo on my desk to help me remember the bond we share.

Now before you start feeling bad for me please remember that I am a teacher. And when I say I am going back to work...that is true...for nine days. And then my friends, it is summer vacation!

Bathtime Folly

"So are you wondering why I am lying here naked wrapped in a towel on the bathroom rug?"

"Well, before you chastise my Mom for leaving me damp on the floor to freeze as she took this photo I suppose I should come clean. You see she had just put me in a nice warm bath and was singing to me. I was happy and relaxed..maybe too much so..because I felt an urge to let go.
Literally...I did...I let a yellow-orange cloud of poop loose in my nice morning bath. So she had to drain the water, clean out the tub and start over."

"I know she was a bit irritated so to ease her frustration I decided to employ my greatest asset..CUTENESS! Works every time. She even had to get out the camera to document* it."

"See what I mean... I am adorable. I dare you to say otherwise."

* "Please forgive the somewhat strange quality of the photos. They were rather dark due to some shadows in the bathroom. My Mom tried to improve them using her new photoshop program. However, she is a beginner at using it and I can't say I have allowed her much time to figure it out. Again...I'll just look cute and she'll forgive me for being time consuming.
She always does!"

Baptism

Sunday Samuel Johnston was baptized. It was a great little ceremony during which Sam let loose and filled his diaper. I secretly was praying that the contents would not leak, especially when the priest was holding him for a photo.

I waited until we were home to change him and his onesie was so destroyed that I had Mike cut it off him! I did get a few shots before we left for church just in case we did have a blow out. I am so glad I had the forethought to do so.

Baptismal Overall Outfit

The sweater was bought when Mike and I visited Brazil in 2005.

The best family photo we could get!

Finally!

It took 10.5 weeks but we finally got the girls to hold Sam and photos to prove it. Almost every time in the past when we would ask Natalie and Amelia if they would like to hold Sam the response would be, "No thank you. He might spit up on me."

Hey...even though they rejected our offers, pleas, and bribes at least they were polite about it!

The setting is my parent's house right before we were about to go home after celebrating my Mother's birthday. The kids are on their pajamas when its late we like to get all the kids ready for bed before driving home.

For some of the photos Sam was happy...and others...well you can see for yourself.

Father and Son Team

Mike plays softball once a week during the summer. Last night with the help of family I took all the kids to see Daddy play. Before Mike left for the game I could not resist getting a photo of my boys in their sporting attire.

I just love how they almost match in colors : )

So, do you think they look like each other?
I do.

Mike has toyed with the idea that this may be his last year of softball.
(I have heard that before)
Though if he quits softball he says that next year he would join a golf league instead.

I may have to get Sam a "matching" golf outfit just in case.

And one more special photo for this post...

one that just melts my heart.

Anything Cuter?

Is there anything cuter than a little boy in his dinosaur pajamas?

I don't think so.

Working at the Car Wash

These photos were taken a few weeks ago on a really nice Friday evening. The girls were so excited to help Dad wash his car. So if you are ever in need of a wash let Natalie and Amelia know!
